Staging Your Home For A Quick Sale

If you’re planning to sell your home, we often suggest 'staging' to help the sale. Staging sets the scene in your home, making it more appealing to buyers. By doing simple renovation or redecoration, it can help prospective buyers see themselves living there. And of course, if they can imagine living there, they'll be more inclined to make an offer.

Staging doesn't have to be complicated. Something as simple as painting your walls can go a long way towards selling your home faster and for the best possible price. In a 2006 study by Accredited Staging Professionals, homes that haven't been staged stay on the market an average of 163 days. Compare that to staged homes, which averaged only 8 to 13 days on the market. That means staged homes sell in less than 1/12 the time of homes that haven't been prepared this way.

How much does it cost to stage your home for sale? It depends on how much needs to be done to get your home market ready. Some staging techniques are free - rearranging furniture or simplifying the décor can go a long way towards presenting your home in its best light.

Other projects like installing granite countertops or putting in new kitchen appliances, will cost you more, but might help boost your home’s appeal. And where you live will also impact what you spend.

According to Barb Schwartz, author of “Home Staging: The Winning Way to Sell Your House For More Money,” the cost of staging a home on the West coast averages $2,800, compared to $1,800 in the Midwest and approximately $3,800 on the East coast.

When you list with us, we are happy to recommend a variety of ways you can improve your odds of a quick sale. It's just one more way we promise to treat your home sale like a 'million-dollar' sale!
